The howl is the impulse; poetry is the code. With this thought, the guys of Slam Poetry Barquisimeto will celebrate their third anniversary as only they know how to do it, incorporating new slammers to their pack.
Poetry as language is the engine that moves this group of young lovers of the arts and creation of the culture, but not in a conventional sense. They give a turn to the literary scene, setting the basis for the new generations of poets and writers who want to show their own writing.
The appointment to celebrate this third anniversary with the guys of Slam Poetry is August 31, from 4:50 p.m., at the law firm SVMPG (17 between 22 and 23, in the Plaza Lara, next to the San Francisco church).

This innovative concept for the city is a platform made for all poetry fans, where they can incorporate dramatization and improvisation through a recitation. The format of the slam is inspired by boxing, where each poet or slammer has three minutes to read their piece in front of the public, the latter being the jury that will choose a winner in the prose contest.
In Barquisimeto, this movement “invades restaurants, bars, galleries, squares, and hotels to remind the city why they have decided to stay in it.” This is a monthly activity where a group of artists is selected beforehand so that the public can enjoy their performances.
Currently, all the activities carried out by the Slam Poetry Barquisimeto are free; however, any income obtains by means of box office or other several activities are destined entirely to cover the expenses of the slam and to guarantee its permanence.
There is no fixed guideline; all the people who have their own material and wish to recite it can do it. The selection of the “pack” is held every month, from the celebration of the last slam to 48 hours before the next event.
You must send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org attaching 3 poetic texts, a personal phrase, your biographical review and a photograph. The poems should be yours and current.
During the slam the “rule of 3” is applied; that is, the participant must recite in 3 minutes, 3 different texts in 3 rounds. The theme is free; it’s even possible to combine languages and singing, but in a balanced way, without taking away the importance of the text. You can’t use props, only the voice, the body, the text and the passion. Do you dare to do it?
